Bija (Beej) Mantra for Human Body Chakras Meditation - How to Activate - Open

Bija (Beej) Mantra for Human Body Chakras Meditation (How to Activate or Open): The great religions of India share the notion that the universe has its origin in sound. The creativity of the universe itself is sound or vibration and this primordial sound is what literally gives birth to the worlds and material bodies we experience.

In other traditions we also have this notion of sound and letters as creative principles - the word or Logos mentioned in the Bible and the letters in which light crystallizes, forming the universe in the cabal, just to quote two well-known examples among many more.

The primary sound for the traditions that emerge from the Vedas is OM. There are numerous Upanishads that match the syllable OM with the Brahman, the Absolute, that from which the universe arises (not to be confused with the Brahma deity).

These syllables correspond to a semi vocal of Sanskrit; these are letters that connect the un-manifest with the manifest, or what precedes creation with creation, as hinged syllables between the spiritual and the material and, perhaps, hence the power to transform reality and materialize energy or wish.

The vowels are something like the primordial energy and the consonants are the binder components with which this energy builds the world - as a connecting point or communicating vessel are the semi vocals, which correspond to the elements, which are the first configuration of Energy reports as material form or the first thing that arises from creative sound.

The first association between these sounds and the known chakras appears in one of the so - called Yoga-Upanishads, the Yoga Tattva Upanishad, where it is recommended to meditate on these five sounds in relation to the five elements, a deity, a color and a geometric shape. Practicing this meditation, it is said, allows one to reach the siddhi or power of each of these elements and, finally, a state that transcends death.

The text indicates that the earth element must be meditated in the form of a golden square and the god Brahma; in the case of water a croissant, the color white and the Narayan deity; the fire is ruled by Rudra, a triangle and the color red; air or wind through a black hexagonal shape and contemplate Ishvara; The space is shaped like a dot or drop (bindu) and corresponds to Shiva (the text does not mention color, it speaks of a pure shine like a crystal).

Some of the shapes and colors that the text mentions do not completely coincide with the way this practice is taught in hatha yoga, where green for air and blue for space are generally used. Similarly, the regions of the body that the text attributes to each element are not exactly the same.

The more or less standardized practice in modern yoga currently consists in reciting each of the seed syllables and visualizing the color and form in the associated chakra (generally, the particular gods have been eliminated; in the various tantric schools the seed syllables and the corresponding deity is visualized emerging from the syllable form and sound).

Commonly, it takes some time in each chakra and upon reaching the sixth and seventh chakra OM is sung. The Yoga Tattva talks about 2 hours stop some of the chakras to actually activate the item.

OM is superior to the gods - it is said to be the sun of the gods - and is the sound or vibratory form of the absolute. In Sanskrit the word "Prana" is used to refer to OM.

This word can be interpreted in different ways; on the one hand it refers to a sound or praise (via the root nu) previous (pra) to something, perhaps to the sound prior to the manifestation of the cosmos, and on the other hand a hieratic interpretation is found in the Athatvashikha Upanishad: "That which causes the pranas to perish, merge with the Paramatman (the Universal Being) and identify with Him, that is pranava."

Pranas are the energies or winds that build the material cosmos, both in macrocosmic and microcosmic terms, since they also build the human body from the energy encoded by karma.

The syllable OM is considered the mother of all syllables seed or Bija (Beej) Mantras; these are mantras that capture the form or energy of a god or a power in a syllable.

They are the basis of the magical economy of various traditions, especially important in tantric traditions, which also includes Tibetan Buddhism (which takes its mantras from Sanskrit).

It is said that a mantra is the sound avatar of a divinity, that is, its manifestation or power in the world. Academician Guy Beck writes in his book Sonic Theology:
The way in which the adept uses the creative forces of language is through the science of the mantra, which enjoys a unique status in tantrism... a tantric mantra is a compact form of the god or power that 'is 'in essence... Mantras are believed to create their own type of resonance in space, in the dimension of subtle sound or vibration, called Nothing. Since everything in creation is considered to be a complex network of resonance, the user of the mantra is aware of the immense power at his disposal.
The seed syllables do not mean something, they are not signs of something else, and they are in themselves what they name. The syllable for fire, for example, RAM, is the fire itself, both in its concrete aspect and in its archetypal aspect - it deserves to be repeated: it is not the sound of fire, it is fire.

Thus, some adherents maintain that repeating this syllable can not only produce heat or the purifying energy of fire, it can generate the material appearance of the fire element (a small fire of the word) - this, however, requires the concentration of the yogi, the tapas Samadhi It is also in this sense that these syllables are called seeds: they have the power to germinate the force they call.

As the ethnobotanist and psychonaut Terence McKenna wrote: "The real secret of magic is that the world is made of words. And if you know the words from which the world is made, you can do with it whatever you want."

There are several Bija (Beej) Mantras. Some are called Shakti mantras (Hrim, Aim, Klim, Hum, Shrim, etc.), which move or control different energies (healing, sexual, creativity and others), also linked to different gods.

In this case, what interests us are the Bija (Beej) Mantras of the elements; these are syllables formed with the semi vocals of Sanskrit, the language that is considered perfect, in which sounds correspond to the essence of things and are not arbitrary designations.

Sounds or lyrics that were heard by the Vedic scholars, the Rishis. It should be mentioned that the tantric tradition that adores the goddess Kubijika (a highly esoteric sect) uses other syllables (the five pranavas) linked to the elements.

The benefits of each seed mantra are, according to Ayurveda doctor David Frawley:

Root Chakra - First Chakra - LAM gives stability, contentment, tranquility. Strengthens Venus and Mars and counteracts the evil effects of Saturn.

Sacral / Navel Chakra - Second Chakra - VAM gives movement, vibration, fluidity and strengthens Venus, Jupiter and the Moon.

Solar Plexus Chakra - Third Chakra - RAM gives power and strength and strengthens the Sun, Mars and Ketu (planet of Vedic astrology).

Heart Chakra - Forth Chakra - YAM gives mobility, speed and direction and strengthens Mercury.

Throat Chakra - Fifth Chakra - HAM provides breadth, strength and insight. Strengthens Mercury and Jupiter.

Third Eye Chakra - Sixth Chakra - OM is associated with the Sun and the most subtle and spiritual aspects.

Crown Chakra - Seventh Chakra - OM is associated with the brain, nervous system, hypothalamus and cerebral cortex.

All these benefits can be expanded in an analogical way, understanding the characteristics associated with each element and seeking its association with different parts of the body, organs, systems and others.

Finally, it may be useful to elaborate on the appropriate intonation of OM within practice and its meaning. The syllable OM, in this case, must be pronounced before - at the beginning of all practice - and at the end in the ascending path of the chakras.

OM is actually composed of the Sanskrit vowels A, U and M.

The philosopher Evan Thompson in his book Waking, Dreaming, Being, explains the components of OM according to the famous relationship that Mandukya Upanishad makes:
A expresses the awake state, a harsh sound produced by the mouth wide open. U expresses the dream state, a subtle sound produced with the help of the lips and M expresses the deep sleep, with closed lips. Reverberating in the throat mmm vocalizes the joy of consciousness without sleep of deep sleep ... The room has no constituent phonemes. We can think of it as the silence from which all sounds emerge or as the union of the three phonemes in one syllable: OM, expressing the unity of the three states in the single non-dual consciousness.
The Vedic tradition divided the states of consciousness into three sections and a room that transcends them while absorbing and encompassing them.

The A corresponds to the vigil, the U to the dream state and the M to the deep dreams. But tradition indicates that AUM actually has four measures, the fourth is the silence of the Brahman, or the so-called turiya, the fourth state that encompasses all others, which is that of absolute non-dual consciousness, the state in which there is no difference between atman and Brahman, between the individual being and God.
Surely, one of the best explanations of how to sing OM and its esoteric meaning can be found in the work of Mark Dyczkowski, one of the leading experts currently in shaiva tantrism.
